DISCOVER NEW ENGLAND (DNE)

THE PURPOSE Grow international visitation by ensuring Greater Portland is considered and included in the travel products, itineraries, and media coverage that shape overseas travel to New England. OUR STRATEGY Engage directly with influential tour operators, travel advisors, and journalists from key international markets through Discover New England’s premier travel trade event. By building relationships and showcasing Greater Portland’s distinctive experiences, we increase destination awareness and create opportunities for long-term visitation growth.

OVERVIEW Discover New England (DNE) is the official regional destination marketing organization representing the six New England states and is dedicated to promoting travel to the region in key international markets. Each year, DNE hosts its annual summit, bringing together more than 60 tour operators, travel advisors, and media representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and other international markets that influence travel to New England. From April 13–15, 2026, Visit Portland participated in the Discover New England Summit in Burlington, Vermont, connecting directly with these influential travel trade and media professionals through targeted appointments, networking opportunities, and destination presentations. The program provided an important platform to increase awareness of Greater Portland, strengthen relationships with decision-makers who create New England travel itineraries, and position the destination for future international visitation and long-term growth in overseas markets. INTERNATIONAL TRADE ENGAGEMENT • 37 one-on-one appointments with tour operators and receptive operators • Representation from 17 international markets • Focus on partners actively selling or developing New England product
