THE PURPOSE Visit Portland partners with the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) to reinforce our commitment to positioning Greater Portland as a welcoming and inclusive destination where LGBTQ+ travelers feel seen, safe, and celebrated. This partnership helps ensure our marketing efforts authentically reflect the diverse and hospitable spirit of our community while expanding our reach to travelers who actively seek destinations that value inclusivity. OUR STRATEGY We leverage the IGLTA’s global platform to increase Greater Portland’s visibility among LGBTQ+ travelers and tourism professionals. Through contributed content, targeted social media promotions, destination listings, and industry engagement opportunities , we showcase Greater Portland’s welcoming culture, vibrant community, and local businesses to a highly engaged audience. This approach strengthens awareness of the destination while driving consideration and visitation among travelers seeking inclusive experiences.
OVERVIEW The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) is the leading global network dedicated to connecting and educating LGBTQ+ travelers while supporting businesses that champion inclusive tourism. Founded in 1983, the organization provides resources for travelers and a professional platform for thousands of members—including destinations, hotels, and travel agents— across more than 80 countries. Their work focuses on promoting a world where all travelers feel welcome and safe, regardless of who they are or who they love.
