JAMAICAN RELIEF DRIVE

JAMAICA RELIEF DRIVE In response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica, Visit Portland helped connect local and statewide partners to spread the word about supporting members of our extended hospitality community. Each year, Greater Portland welcomes seasonal employees from Jamaica who play a vital role in our busiest months. With many now facing uncertainty about what awaits them at home, this effort reflects a commitment to standing by those who contribute so much to our region. Led by Wallesha Allen (a Jamaican native now living and working in Portland) of the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa, Visit Portland helped launch a humanitarian relief drive to collect essential supplies for those affected. Donations were accepted at multiple locations across the region, culminating in a community driven donation event that brought people together in support of both our local workforce and their families abroad. This initiative highlights the deep connections within the hospitality industry and the power of collaboration to support communities, both here in Greater Portland and beyond.
