MATTERPORT VIRTUAL TOURS
THE PURPOSE Provide meeting planners with a convenient and engaging way to evaluate Greater Portland’s meeting facilities without the time and expense of an initial site visit. By offering immersive virtual access to local venues, we help planners better understand available spaces, compare options, and confidently consider Greater Portland for future meetings and events. OUR STRATEGY Leverage immersive technology to modernize the site-selection process and reduce barriers to destination consideration. By integrating Matterport tours into our sales and marketing efforts, we extend the reach of local venues, enhance planner engagement, and provide a valuable planning resource that complements traditional sales outreach. This approach allows Greater Portland to compete more effectively for meetings and events by delivering the convenience, transparency, and accessibility today’s planners increasingly expect.
OVERVIEW Visit Portland partnered with Morneau Studios to create immersive Matterport virtual tours of hotel meeting and event spaces throughout Portland’s Tourism Development District. These interactive experiences allow meeting planners to explore venues remotely, view room configurations, assess meeting capabilities, and better understand each property’s offerings. The tours are featured on VisitPortland.com and incorporated into group sales and marketing efforts, providing planners with an accessible, on-demand site visit experience that supports informed decision-making. As planner behavior continues to evolve, virtual site inspections have become an increasingly important part of the destination selection process, allowing Greater Portland to showcase its assets to a wider audience while reducing the time and cost associated with early-stage venue evaluation. INITIATIVE PROGRESS Visit Portland has completed 16 of the 23 PTDD hotel properties and provided direct links to each property for their own use. MATTERPORT PERFORMANCE • Total Matterport Impressions: 2167 • Total Matterport Clicks: 679 • Total Matterport Visitors: 439 LINKEDIN CAMPAIGN PERFORMANCE In addition, a LinkedIn campaign was executed to regularly promote the Matterport tours, generating: • Impressions: 312 • Engagements: 25 | Engagement Rate: 7.3% | Reposts: 1 • Clicks: 15 | CTR: 4.5%
