COMPETE IN ST YLE

From the mountains to the sea, Maine sports venues have played host to youth, amateur, international, university-level, and professional-level sports. In 2017, forty pro bowlers traveled from around the world to compete in the PBA Elias Cup at Portland’s recently expanded Bayside Bowl, and a Maine Shootout tournament is scheduled prior to the Elias Cup weekend events in 2018. Play in Maine Maine and sports—it’s a natural fit. With its diversity of terrain and changing climate, Maine is fortunate to have an array of distinct, unique four-season sports activities. Maine has the space to hold large competitions and the services to ensure they run smoothly. From marathons & triathlons, to cycling, golf, and much more, the state’s natural resources allow for the widest range of sporting events. Last September, Maine Ultimate welcomed 57 teams from around the Northeast for tournaments held at the South Portland Recreation Complex and Wainwright Farms. Fight the Night, an indoor Ultimate tournament held each January at the Portland Sports Complex, draws New England competitors who raise money for Camp Sunshine, which provides retreats for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
