❱❱ You can still get out on the water in our cooler months on Casco Bay Ferry’s Mailboat Run. ❱❱ Surfing’s good here so bring your board, or take a lesson and ride the waves on a rental. ❱❱ L.L.Bean in Freeport hosts free outdoor summer concerts and a Northern Lights festival in December. ❱❱ Beaches, lakes, mountains, and coastal villages are all nearby day trips from metro Portland. ❱❱ Stop by the Portland Public Library for free events such as book readings with authors, story time for kids and periodic art displays.

❱❱ A great way to get into the winter holiday spirit is to watch the Christmas Boat Parade of Lights from the Maine State Pier on the 2nd Saturday in December. ❱❱ Utilize Happy Hour for budget-friendly deals and specials. ❱❱ See a natural waterfall right in Portland on a hike through the 85-acre Fore River Sanctuary preserve on outer Congress Street. ❱❱ Visiting with Children? Explore the ocean side paths and trails on Mackworth Island and discover its many fairy houses—even build one yourselves.
