The region is committed to accessibility, offering resources and attractions designed to ensure every visitor can participate fully and comfortably. GETTING AROUND Public Transportation + Parking: Greater Portland Metro buses are ADA-accessible, with lifts or ramps, wheelchair securement areas, audible announcements, and priority seating. ADA Complementary Paratransit services assist those with mobility needs. The Amtrak Downeaster offers accessible train travel to Boston and beyond. Casco Bay Lines provides fully accessible ferries with ramps and onboard amenities for all visitors. For parking, Metropolis / SP+ offer smart, frictionless, and accessible solutions across the city. ACCESSIBLE TRAILS + OUTDOOR SPACES Portland: Paved paths at Back Cove , the Eastern Promenade , Fort Allen Park , and Deering Oaks Park offer waterfront views, historic monuments, gardens, and gentle strolls suitable for wheelchairs. Many Portland public playgrounds are ADA compliant, and several Greater Portland land trusts—like Scarborough Land Trust—feature ADA accessible trails, making outdoor exploration welcoming for visitors of all abilities.
