NEW TO SEE

There’s much more to Greater Portland than lobsters and lighthouses. TGIF—Every Friday night, the Portland Museum of Art is open for free 5pm-9pm. Art Walks, featuring performers, artists, and musicians, take over Portland’s Arts District the First Friday of each month. Free outdoor concerts in parks and inexpensive pubs exude music nightly. Parks in Scarborough, South Portland, Westbrook, and throughout Portland host open-air shows during the The Cobblestone streets of downtown Portland’s Old Port are lined with the best of Maine-owned businesses. Rebuilt after the fire of 1866 that destroyed the city, these brick and cast iron buildings create an authentic downtown shopping experience.
