KENNEBEC VALLEY Fly fishing flourishes in summer, scenic travel shines in fall, and winter is a wonderland of snow sports and ice fishing. Combine a visit to the Maine State Museum with an afternoon trolling antiques stores and artisan shops. The Colby College Museum of Art and Waterville Opera House are cultural gems. Thrill on a guided whitewater rafting trip or pursue Maine’s iconic mammal on a moose- watching trip. Hike a mile to see Moxie Falls, the highest waterfall in Maine.

AROOSTOOK COUNTY

With its dramatic cliffs plunging down to the churning Atlantic, Acadia is one of the top 10 most visited national parks. Take in the stunning views from atop Cadillac Mountain, and explore hiking and carriage trails perfect for mountain biking. Nearby Bar Harbor spouts quaint shops and eateries. Downeast’s autumn is marked by acres of wild blueberry barrens glowing flame red. Be the first to see the sunrise in the US at West Quoddy Light in Lubec.

The Crown of Maine pro- vides an unparalleled back woods experience. ATV and snowmobile riders love “The County’s” thousands of miles of wilderness trails. Notable paddles include the Allagash Wilderness Waterway and the easternmost section of the impressive Northern Forest Canoe Trail. At the south- eastern end of Aroostook County is the Grand Lake chain of lakes, and further north visitors will encounter world class hunting, fishing, and boating on the St. John River.
